"Melancholia" [Mpeg]
(350 Kb) [Au] (350 Kb)
Shinkansen, 1996
Nothing radically have happened with British Blueboy's concept since their
debut-single "Clearer" on Sarah Records in 1991. They just keep going,
in their own little universe. And why not, since they're so good at it?
"Melancholia", their best song on their latest
7", is completely acoustic, just vocals and guitar, and warm, with yearning
jealousy-struck lyrics. Delicious.
A-side " Love yourself" is one of the Blueboy-songs
with lots of sad, echoing guitars which makes me think of 1985, when I was so
much younger than today and listened to Cure, Cocteau Twins and many other
serious men and women. It's OK, but not that OK. Buy this for the b-side and the
nice cover.
